Day 0: Let's Build a Game
So, I want to build a game. I’m not sure what. But, I gotta start somewhere.
Step 1: know what’s buildable, what’s easy vs what’s hard. I frankly have no idea. The final polished thing can come later — let’s jump in head first and worry about the minute details, y’know, like, what the actual game will be…later.
I heard of Godot, seen it mentioned in some videos. Sounds like a great place to start…or not, like I said, I don’t know. But, we’ll find out. I know we’ll find out because 1. hands-on experience means I’ll find out whether I like it or not 2. I’ma publish my journey, I know I can count on the internet to tell me when I’m wrong. Please do, I’m counting on it.
Publicly sharing my journey might also help me stick to this a bit longer when my magpie brain wants to jump to something else shiny.
Be warned, I have no idea what I’m about to get into. I’m not counting on this becoming a tutorial. This will not be a “here’s how to do XYZ properly”, but feel free to stick around and chime in.
